My Irish Inspiration

"Ever since Gala lived in Ireland she has been listening to Irish music while painting. Van Morrison and U2 have accompanied her through many seasons. The Water Boys, singing to W.B. Yeats lyrics, have been Gala's latest inspiration while creating her pieces for the exhibition 'Joy'."

And It Stoned Me - Van Morrison

Half a mile from the county fair
And the rain keep pourin' down
Me and Billy standin' there
With a silver half a crown
Hands are full of a fishin' rod
And the tackle on our backs
We just stood there gettin' wet
With our backs against the fence

Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Oh, the water
Hope it don't rain all day

And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like Jelly Roll
And it stoned me
And it stoned me to my soul
Stoned me just like goin' home
And it stoned me

Let the Earth Bear Witness - W.B. Yeats

Let the sea bear witness
Let the wind bear witness
Let the earth bear witness
Let the stars bear witness.

They shall be remembered for ever
They shall be alive for ever
They shall be speaking for ever
The people shall hear them for ever.

Sweet Dancer - W.B. Yeats

The girl goes dancing there
On the leaf-sown, new-mown, smooth
Grass plot of the garden;
Escaped from bitter youth,
Escaped out of her crowd,
Or out of her black cloud.
Ah, dancer, ah, sweet dancer!
